Vanessa has made her name as a bold, expressive and imaginative artist, with a deep love and knowledge of colour. Her art is based around nature and family life, with a rich vein of humour and warmth running through it.
Vanessa works mostly with oils, redrawing her compositions repeatedly to reduce its content to their basic element, cutting out anything that isn’t essential to the piece.
Her art is spontaneous, life-affirming, often quirky. When she paints animals, she captures their innocence, their personality and spirit. She takes her models from nature, forests and gardens, as well as pets and children.
